Speech Analysis

The first clip is a motivational clip Eric Thomas talks about the secrets to success.  He starts by saying if you would like to make six figures you can not just talk about making six figures. he uses a story of a guru to explain how to be successful. his story is about a man who goes to a guru to become successful. the guru tell the guy to go to the beach the next day so he cal learn to become successful.  when they are at the beach the guru tells him to go to the water. the guru holds his head under the water and soon after lets him breath. he explains  when you want to be success as much as you want to breath then you will be successful..

The second speech is another motivational speech of a Gunnery Sergeant who speaking to his marines before going to a mission in the war in Afghanistan.  He starts his speech by explaining that he was upset by not receiving a motivating speech by his superiors so decides on telling one. Gunny Sergeant Walgren  explains a secret that the Marine Corps has by never explaining on what is going on, and  play games.  he also stated that he knew about the mission over seven month before, and never said anything so that the marines will stay "pissed". Instead of talking about there mission in "Marjah" he goes on and tell the marines about a former Marine John Glen who was the first to orbit around the space, and ran  for senate in 1974 against Howard Metzenbaum.
Sen. Metzenbaum told  Sen. Glenn: "How can you run for Senate when you have never held a real job?" Sen. Glenn answered  "I served 23 years in the United States Marine Corps. I served through two wars. I flew 149 missions. My plane was hit by antiaircraft fire on 12 different occasions. I was in the space program. It wasn't my checkbook; it was my life on the line. It was not a nine to five job where I took time off to take the daily cash receipts to the bank. -->
I ask you to go with me....as I went the other day to a Veterans hospital and look at those men with their mangled bodies in the eye and tell them they didn't hold a job. You go with me to the space program and go as I have gone to the widows and orphans of Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee and you look those kids in the eye and tell them that their dad didn't hold a job.
You go with me on Memorial Day, coming up, and you stand in Arlington National Cemetery, where I have more friends than I'd like to remember and you watch those waving flags. You stand there, and you think about this nation, and you tell me that those people didn't have a job, I'll tell you, Howard Metzenbaum, you should be on your knees every day of your life thanking God that there were some men - SOME MEN - who held a job. And they required a dedication to purpose, a love of country and a dedication to duty that was more important than life itself. And their self sacrifice is what made  this country possible..... I HAVE HELD A JOB, HOWARD! What about you?"  he goes on by telling his  marines to forget all what they have been training to do. and keep trust all who are amongst each other. he explains the string has been cut and they are loose and nothing will stop them from accomplishing their mission..

Both videos are motivational speeches. Both individuals tell a story to paint a picture for there audience. Both individuals use a story that relates their audience to gain attention and help motivate their audience. Although both videos are to motivate their audience each video are different type of motivation. The first video is a speech to become successful, while the second video was a speech to inspire the Marines who were getting ready to go into battle, and remember why they were there.
At the end of pain there is success
